How to enhance an image
- Open: drop one or many photos on the tool, tap Choose images, or paste with Ctrl/Cmd+V. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC work.
- Pick the size: 2× for a cleaner, sharper version, 4× to enlarge for print or a big screen, or 4K for a 3840 px long side.
- Press Enhance image. The first time, the 4.9 MB model downloads once; then it runs on your device in a few seconds (faster with a GPU).
- Compare with the slider or Zoom 100%, then Download — or Download all as a ZIP. The file keeps its format and ends in …-enhanced.
What an AI image enhancer actually does
A photo looks low quality for three reasons: it has too few pixels, it was saved as a heavily compressed JPEG (blocks, halos, smeared colour), or it is soft from a cheap lens or a slight shake. Ordinary resizing can't fix any of these — it only stretches what's there. This page runs Real-ESRGAN (general-x4v3), a super-resolution model trained on millions of degraded/clean photo pairs, so it has learned what sharp edges, hair, foliage, brickwork and text should look like. It predicts a clean 4× version of every part of your picture, which is then resized to the size you chose. The model runs in your browser through WebGPU (or WebAssembly when there's no GPU), tile by tile, so even a phone can do it. The result looks crisper and cleaner, not just bigger. It can't recover detail that was never captured — a face that is a few pixels wide becomes a plausible face, not the exact person.

| Sign-up | Not needed — no account, no email |
| Watermark | None, on every download |
| Upload | None — images are processed on your device and never sent to a server |
| AI model | Real-ESRGAN general-x4v3 (BSD-3 licence, 4.9 MB, downloaded once and cached) |
| Runs on | WebGPU in Chrome, Edge and Safari; falls back to WebAssembly (CPU) elsewhere |
| Modes | Enhance (clean + sharpen), Unblur (Light / Medium / Strong), Upscale (2×, 4×, 4K) |
| Output size | 2× or 4×, or 4K = 3840 px on the long side (3840×2160 for 16:9); max 4096 px |
| Large originals | Fed to the model at up to 1024 px (GPU) or 640 px (CPU) on the long side, then enlarged 4× |
| Formats | JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC in; JPG, PNG or WebP out (HEIC becomes JPG), PNG transparency kept |
| Batch | Yes — add many images, download one by one or as a ZIP |
| Limits | Speed depends on your device; detail that was never captured can't be recovered, only redrawn |
What it improves
| Problem in the picture | Example | After enhancing |
|---|---|---|
| Too small / low resolution | A 480 px image saved from a chat or old website | 2–4× larger with clean edges instead of stair-steps |
| JPEG compression artefacts | Blocky sky, halos around text, smeared colour | Smooth gradients, clean outlines |
| Slightly soft or out of focus | Phone photo in low light, cheap webcam | Crisper edges and texture (for stronger blur use Unblur mode) |
| Noisy | Grainy indoor shot | Noise smoothed out, detail kept |
| Screenshots and graphics | Logo, chart, game screenshot | Sharp lines and readable small text |
| Tiny faces in a group photo | Faces under ~30 px | Cleaner, but fine features are a guess |
Tip: for a very blurry photo (camera shake, missed focus) switch to Unblur mode and pick the blur level. Enhance is tuned for low resolution and compression.
Image enhancers compared

| Sign-up | Not needed | Often required to download |
| Watermark | Never | Sometimes on free results |
| Batch | Yes — many images, ZIP download | Usually one at a time on free plans |
| Output | 2×, 4× or 4K, up to 4096 px, same format | Often capped or downscaled for free users |

Good to know
- Speed: on a laptop or phone with WebGPU a 1 MP photo takes a few seconds. Without a GPU it runs on the CPU and big photos take longer — the tool works on at most 640 px per side there and then resizes, so it never freezes the tab.
- Largest output is 4096 px on the long side, which is plenty for an A3 print at 300 DPI from a 4× enlargement of a 1000 px photo.
- Transparent PNGs keep their transparency. JPG is saved at quality 92, PNG losslessly, WebP stays WebP.
- The model (Real-ESRGAN general-x4v3, BSD-3 licence) is 4.9 MB and served from this site. Your images are processed in memory and never sent anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one free website that can unblur, remove pixelation, sharpen and upscale to 4K?
Yes, this page. Enhance cleans pixelation and JPEG blocks and sharpens, Unblur fixes blurry photos at three strengths, and Upscale goes 2×, 4× or 4K (3840 px). All free with no sign-up, no watermark and no upload.
How can I enhance image quality for free?
Open the image on this page and press Enhance image. It's free with no limit, no sign-up and no watermark, and the AI runs in your browser so nothing is uploaded.
Does the image enhancer upload my photos?
No. The model downloads to your browser once and runs on your device. Your photos never leave your computer or phone.
Can I enhance a photo on my iPhone or Android?
Yes. Open this page in Safari or Chrome, choose the photo and tap Enhance image. HEIC photos from iPhone work too. Newer phones with WebGPU are fastest.
How much can it enlarge an image?
2×, 4× or to 4K (3840 px long side), up to 4096 px. A 1000 px photo becomes 4000 px at 4×.
Will the result have a watermark?
No. Downloads are full size and watermark-free, one by one or as a ZIP.
What's the difference between Enhance, Unblur and Upscale?
Enhance cleans and sharpens while enlarging 2× or 4×. Unblur first shrinks a blurry photo so the blur becomes tiny, then redraws it sharp at the original size. Upscale focuses on making the image bigger (2×, 4×, 4K).
Can it fix a very blurry photo?
Mild softness, yes. For strong blur use the Unblur mode with Medium or Strong. Heavy motion blur, where an object is smeared into a streak, can't be fully recovered by any tool.
Can I enhance many images at once?
Yes. Add several images, press Enhance all, and download them all as a ZIP.
